Lose Fat. Not Power.
Hate the look of yourself in the mirror because you're fat?
Gently stepping on the scale hoping to see better results but the pointer still mercilessly swing as far as it could, screaming, "YOU ARE FAT!", "YOU ARE OBESE!", "YOU ARE OVERWEIGHT!"
Want to look visually attractive in the mirror and noticeably lighter on scale? Let's get down to losing weight then.
But first, you must figure out what makes you fat?
Lack of exercise?
You may wonder, or even envy, why some people don't exercise yet remain skinny as a matchstick while others exercise a lot but the fats still stick around their waists like a spare tire.
So if you found yourself sweating your guts out at the gym but your weight never seems to drop much, you've to accept that exercise is not your only solution.
It is the food you eat. Or more to the point, the type of food you eat. Period.
That's why fad or crash diets like low-calorie, low-carbohydrate (low-carb) and low-fat are becoming ever so popular over the years. For a few bucks, the advertiser is luring you to lose all that weight you have gained over many years in a very short time. Simply put, fad or crash diets cash in on your hunger for a get-slim-quick solution for a chronic weight problem.
Yes, the weight loss results may wow you initially for a couple of weeks or even just a few days, but the nice effects wore off very quickly, so you gotta keep going on these fad diets. But these fad diets often leave you depressed because you find it difficult to hang on to them. Why?
The Fatal Truth About Fad Diets
Your body needs nutrients and energy (measured in calories) to keep you bouncy and healthy.
But because unused calories will convert into fats and then store in your body as ugly cellulite on your thighs, spare tire around your waist and the oversized seat cushion on your backside, like most people, you very much wanted to get rid of them, so you go into the low-calorie diet such as low-fat or low-carb.
But those diets can harm your health. Let me show you.
Fat provides you with about 9 calories of energy per gram. So it seems logical to lower your fat intake and achieve weight loss results.
But did you know that fat contains essential fat-soluble nutrients like vitamins A, D, E and K and beta-carotene. Depriving yourself of fat can result in your body not getting enough these supernutrients to help function your body properly, thus leading to cancer and other degenerative diseases.
You can lose life instead of losing weight following a low-fat diet. Dangerous!
Next, carbohydrate supplies about 4 calories per gram - half as much as fat. But unlike the fat in typical diets that will be converted into cholesterol and then dumped into the bloodstream, carbohydrates get converted to energy directly.
That's great because it doesn't negatively affect your blood cholesterol level.
But problem arises when the excess carbohydrates are not getting burned as fuel.
Imagine your body needs only 2800 calories per day for its basic metabolic function and physical activity but your daily carb intake shoots up to 3500 calories, the unused 700 calories will turn into fat deposits.
What if you drop your carb intake to 2500 calories?
Obviously, it's not enough and your body senses it.
So your body will start to call for a burning of 300 calories off the fat deposits in your body and there you go, your fat burns and you lose some weight.
That's why ingesting low-carb diet does make its way to help you lose some fat, but that's only for the first few days.
You thought that's a good way to lose weight?
Our body actually comes with an inborn energy moderator.
Your first shock to your body by suddenly eating a low-carb diet may force your system to pull out those fats previously stored in your body and burn them as energy for your body functions.
But such scenario won't last long because your body will soon auto-adjust its calorie-burning engine by burning less calories as you reduce your caloric intake.
For example, after a few days, your body begins to learn that your caloric intake has dropped to 2500 calories only, so it gets the wrong signal that this is what it will get and starts to conserve energy by not using up your fat deposits anymore. Worse still, it starts to adjust itself to burn only 2500 calories.
So this time when you eat 2500 calories in your low-carb diet, you lose nothing.
Knowing how your fat-burning engine works, you decide to suddenly lower your carb intake by another few hundred calories. You see results again. You're happy. And you continue eating less and less.
But your body needs a minimum level of energy to run. With less and less energy supplied from food, you'll get to feel weak all over and you can't stay focused on your tasks.
Given that low energy supply, how much longer do you think you can survive?
I'm sure you have read about people losing their lives due to obsession with the consistently low-calorie diet. What's the point of being slim when you don't even have the health and life to enjoy it?
That's why in the long run, low-calorie diets likes low-carb and low-fat diets do you more harm than good. They don't work and so you shouldn't rely on them to lose fat. There's a better method though.
Quick Weight Loss Diet?
Heard of this - calorie shifting?
It's basically a cheeky strategy (in Fat Loss 4 Idiots) to trick your fat-burning engine in order to burn your fat fast in a matter of days, in fact as fast as 11 days.
With this weight loss diet program, you need not go on a starvation diet as opposed to taking a low-calorie or low-carb diet.
Some people love using it as an emergency weight loss solution few weeks before an important function like wedding dinner or party.
Prima facie, this may seem better than those common low-carb and low-fat diets since you don't starve and you still get to eat some high-carb and high-fat food in certain patterns in your dieting cycle. But it's still not a perfect permanent weight management solution for anyone.
With calorie shifting as in Fat Loss 4 Idiots, you still need to follow a specific pattern of diets over a period of 11 days before you start seeing results. What's worse is, you may open yourself to nutrient deficiency since the controlled diet doesn't call for high nutritional values although you don't feel hungry during the program.
Having enough to eat does not necessarily mean you're getting sufficient and right nutrients to feed your body needs. This program may seem to offer a wide variety of food to choose from (36 for vegetarians and 46 for non-vegetarians at time of writing) which include fruits and vegetables.
You are allowed to rotate them every 11-day period but the point is, they do not provide the full spectrum of nutrition for your body.
Especially for non-vegetarians, you simply won't get enough phytonutrients that are essential to good health.
Honestly, I have nothing against the calorie-shifting method as in Fat Loss 4 Idiots. I mean if you're not so health-conscious and you're only interested in short-term weight loss fix, then this suits you best.
In the long run, it's not a healthy diet.
Is it worthwhile to trade your health for it even if it's a great short cut to getting in better shape?
If you truly care for your health, you would want to follow what I'm doing.
An Easy, Permanent, Healthy and Natural Weight Loss Solution
Listen! The method I recommend will take a slower but more natural and healthier pace.
Gradual weight loss is the key, rather than those fast weight loss methods that can cause detrimental effects to your body and health.
As you already know, I'm a vegetarian. But not all vegetarians are healthy. If you take too much processed vegetarian foods, your health is no different from a meat-eater. The only difference is the guilt level. That's all.
You know what, I'm actually quite a big eater. I surprise many people by my meal portion uncommon for a woman of my size. But I'm still maintaining my desired weight instead of becoming heavier.
So, what's my secret of good health?
Thanks to raw food diets and coconut oil. That's my secret of healthy and natural weight loss!
Raw food diet? Yes, that's the kind of diet I'm currently on.
Honestly, I just started out raw not too long ago. As I'm still learning how to eat raw, I'm comfortable to be on partial raw diet for now. But I already can feel the benefits.
Really, raw diets had made my digestive and metabolic systems run more efficiently ever since I began taking them.
The best part is, I've lost a few more pounds after I thought I've reached the weight loss plateau with my vegetarian diet.
Imagine, I'm on partial raw, not full raw like Frederic Patenaude, the slender mastermind of raw secrets who introduced me his healthy way of eating but I'm already benefiting from it. So you can imagine how refreshing and invigorating the raw diets have changed my life.
Wait, few months after that I discovered one more healthful food - coconut oil. I replaced my cooking oil with coconut oil. And couple with my partial raw diets, I'm weighing even lighter on scale.
Another positive effect of consuming coconut oil is it boosts up my energy level. I have never felt so powerful and productive before. I get to accomplish more tasks daily with the addition of coconut oil in my diet. How wonderful!
The weight loss effect on your body will last for as long as you want.
Another huge advantage is that you don't need to follow any food pattern or watch your dieting cycle at all.
